a very young elephant suckling (they use their mouths, not their trunks). this young fellow insisted we stop while he crossed the road in front of us! a black-shouldered kite, one of the few raptors that hover (great shot by kdm) the inquisitiveness of youth!

Shadrach at Umlani explains the intricacies of elephant dung! which way did he go? Note kids - even lions look both ways before crossing! this unlucky hyaena was trying to join a group but they wouldn't have him. mother leopard (photo kdm)



this cheetah in Umfolozi had killed an impala.. .and went away with a very full tummy a young lion already looking regal don't invite the elephants to your pool party if you don't want the furniture rearranged!



the afternoon sun gave this scene a particular beauty lions getting romantic??! that zebra had better watch where he's going!!! a spectacular highveld sunset!
