All our safaris are tailor-made to suit each client. However, you may be interested to see what kind of tours and adventures we undertake!
Activities we enjoy!
- Almost all our safaris are based around wildlife viewing - we love the scream of the eagle, the stately stroll of the giraffe, the roar of the lion and the whoop of the hyaena at night, the flashing beauty of the lilac-breasted roller, the bounding herds of antelope and the magnificence of the African elephant! For this we take you to some of the finest game reserves in the world, not just to the well-known places like Kruger Park, but to wonderful private reserves with magic names like Madikwe and Welgevonden, the Sabi Sand, Timbavati and Balule, to lesser known regions like the Mapungubwe area to track wild dog or cheetah, to the vast Kalahari desert and the Kalagadi Transfrontier Park. And, of course, to neighbouring countries to world-renowned game reserves like Chobe, Moremi and Etosha, to the wild terrain of the Tuli Block, to the fascinating Mgkadigkadi Pans region to see huge herds of zebra and wildebeest along the Boteti River and to see lion stake out the waterhole at Nxai Pan.......
- Southern Africa is a land of "big sky". We love to experience the vast open spaces, the wild and desolate places, the pitch dark star-splashed nights, carved canyons, towering sand dunes, sweeping vistas stretching to the far horizon, yellow grassy plains, tumbling rock formations and thundering waterfalls. We sit wrapped in silence watching awe-inspiring sunsets, clasp steaming coffee mugs with chilled fingers as the sun rises colouring brilliantly the distant rocky hills... Is there anywhere so magical as Africa?

- We get up close and personal with elephant, lion, rhino, hippo, crocodile and dozens of other species on early morning and late afternoon-evening game drives; we enjoy susnset boat cruises, hot air balloon rides, wild dog, rhino and cheetah tracking, mountain-bike or horseback game rides, guided game walks, white water rafting and other adrenalin-rush activities, bush breakfasts and dinners under the stars!
- Apart from the wildlife safaris and activities we make time for other interests - visits to cultural villages to see the customs and taste the food of the local cultures and learn about their history. A mixed golf and wildlife safari is a special experience for keen golfers (there is even a par 3 at one course where you need a helicopter to get to the tee - costs extra of course!) as we have numerous top quality courses in or very close to superb wildlife reserves.
Places we love to visit (there are so many but, in no special order, here are a very few)!
- The Venda Village, Lesheba, hidden in a secluded valley high up in the Soutpansberg mountains - it's just different - and beautiful! It is full of designs and sculptures by a renowned South African artist from the Venda tribe, Noria Mabasa. Below, giraffe, rhino, zebra etc. wander the plains.
- Madikwe Game Reserve - an outstanding game reserve with a wide variety of game; excellent sightings of lion, elephant and wild dog are frequent. The reserve has numerous wonderful lodges and all game drives are in open vehicles.
- Hot air ballooning at dawn over the big 5 Pilansberg Game Reserve near Sun City!
- Kalahari Trails bush camp - if you want total isolation and spectacular night skies (with the Kalagadi Transfrontier Park only 20 minutes away) and you don't mind a little less luxury, this is spectacular. A walk with the owner, Prof Anne, over the red dunes is a fascinating and amazingly informative experience. The Kalagadi is a magnificent desert park with lion, cheetah, wild cat, suricates, jackals and foxes as well as the ubiquitous Springbok and Gemsbok (oryx) the most commonly seen animals. It is also raptor heaven for birdlovers.
- The banks of the Boteti River bed in the dry season to see the packed herds of zebra and wildebeest and the huge bull elephants all seeking water - and the lions following the food trail! Leroo-La-Tau (footprint of the lion) and Meno-a-Kwena (tooth of the crocodile) are local lodges.
- The vast open lands of the Mgkadigkadi Pans including some huge baobab trees, a sea of flamingoes (seasonal), lions frequently making kills at Nxai Pan..... lodges range from the superb luxury of Jack's Camp to the more affordable but vibrant Planet Baobab and Nata Lodge.
- The Fish River Canyon and the amazingly constructed Canyon Lodge in southern Namibia.
- The amazing landscapes and colours of the mountains and dunes as you drive from Helmeringshausen to the fantastic dunescape of Sossuvlei - lodges for all budgets abound and photographers and artists think they have died and gone to heaven!
- A boat cruise on the Chobe River - in the winter months huge herds of elephant flock to the river every afternoon and you will get within a few metres of these wonderful creatures, as well as hippo, crocodile, buffalo, lechwe, puku and a huge variety of birds. It is crowded but is still an unforgettable wildlife experience.
- Dangling your legs into the abyss as the Victoria Falls spills thousands of tons of water into the gorge below, and, for the adventurous, the finest commercial white water rafting in the world in those same gorges below the falls. You can stay in Zambia or Zimbabwe and bungi jump in between!!
- The Mapungubwe National Park and surrounding areas offers a wonderful variety of activities: visit the Mapungubwe World Heritage site where the forerunners of Great Zimbabwe set up their civilization 800 years ago; go wild dog, lion or cheetah (on foot) tracking at nearby reserves; see the spectacular rock formations of Mapungubwe, Verreaux (black) eagles often overhead, and the meeting point of 3 countries as you go on your game drive through the park. The park camps are excellent if you are happy to cater for yourself and not far away is the excellent Mopane Bush Lodge.
- Botswana's Tuli Block, just across the Limpopo river from Mapungubwe, is a great place to see elephant, lion and leopard as well - and for those so inclined you can explore the bush on horseback or mountain bike (led by armed rangers), or take a game drive with either an elephant or a predator research specialist.
- Namaqualand in the springtime as the semi-desert landscape bursts into brilliant life - the colours are astonishing and even the most hardened non-gardener will be awestruck!
- On the eastern side of SA there is the St Lucia world heritage site, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi game reserve, Zulu cultural villages, Swaziland (Reilly's Rock Lodge is a blast from the colonial past), world-famous Kruger Park, the Panorama route, the luxury lodges of the Sabi Sand, Timbavati, Balule etc....

There are so many more wonderful places, and it is impossible to list them all. It is with the above activities and places in mind that we tailor-make for you your own personal African safari!
